Queen of the Highlands
The designated partner or mate of the King of the Highlands is granted the title Queen of the Highlands, and falls under a similar geas to that of the King. Where the King’s physical well being and physical and magical power are a reflection of the people of the Cape of Storms, the Queen is tied to the land itself.
If the land of the Cape of Storms is well tended and cared for and nature is respected and not exploited, the Queen is a paragon of health and has a degree of awareness and control over the land and weather that extends across the subcontinent. If the land becomes blighted, or poisoned or is abused without mindful care; the queen’s health begins to suffer, their vision clouds and their power wanes.
Where as Thunder Keep has some influence over who sits on the throne, it has only rarely shown interest in who the Queen is and their well being. No puzzles or tests exist for the selection of the Queen, and King’s have reigned without one. However, without a Queen in Thunder Keep the land of the Cape of Storms becomes unruly and difficult to tend. And the weather itself becomes harsh, hence the ancient name of the subcontinent itself.
